Company Founding and History

Dr. Gilbert Houtekamer and Els Das founded IntelliMagic in 2002 after realizing the gap between what z/OS mainframe performance teams needed to ensure availability, and the tools they had available to do so.

The company started out with cutting-edge technology based on Dr. Gibert Houtekamer’s PhD research and built this into innovative AI-powered solutions to manage the performance and availability of critical IT infrastructures, with a deep focus on the IBM z/OS mainframe.

The company is headquartered in the famous Latin School in the historic city center of Leiden with subsidiaries in Germany and the United States, and delivers its solutions to customers around the world.

Tree Adoption in the Botanical Garden in Leiden

To commemorate its twenty-year anniversary, IntelliMagic adopted a tree in the Botanical Garden (Hortus Botanicus) in Leiden: the magnificent narrow-leaved ash, the tallest tree in the Garden. Given the proximity of the Garden to its Leiden office and the value that the IntelliMagic founders place on science and nature conservation, IntelliMagic decided adopting this tree was a great way to celebrate its anniversary. With the adoption, IntelliMagic contributes to the maintenance of this tree and the conservation of the Botanical Garden in general.
