Merle Sadler is a senior consultant with IntelliMagic focusing on tape performance for Oracle/STK VSM and IBM TS7700 environments.
Prior to joining IntelliMagic, he spent 7 years as a MVS systems programmer and then 6 years as a lead MVS systems programmer with extensive knowledge of disk, tape and IBM mainframes at both small and large IT departments.
With StorageTek, Merle spent 3 years as a VSM test engineer and then the next 17 in the VSM engineering development group. There he developed, maintained and enhanced VSM, disk and library analysis, simulation and performance tools for pre and post sales storage engineers.

How to Find Sick But Not Dead (SBND) TS7700 Tape Clusters
Rather than waiting for a remote VTS to fail, you should be reviewing these key TS7700 reports to determine if remote clusters are receiving replication data or not.
4 Benefits of Implementing TS7700’s New Microcode Compression
Implementing the TS7700 microcode-based compression algorithms can have benefits beyond better compression. The CPU algorithms allow host jobs to run faster and improve replication time.
