Todd Havekost, Senior z/OS Performance and Availability Consultant at IntelliMagic, won the Best Session Award for his session ‘Achieving Significant Capacity Improvements on the IBM z13: User Experience’, presented at the SHARE Conference 2016 held in San Antonio, Texas. Todd was also identified as an outstanding user session presenter at this event focused primarily on z/OS environments.

The award-winning session revealed a ground-breaking case study with insights Todd and his team learned during his experience at a Fortune 100 company. Todd led the efforts that safely achieved a reduction of 13,000 processor MIPS, very significantly reducing mainframe software costs. The insights in the presentation are primarily related to the optimization of processor cache and RNI metrics. This is one area that is challenging long-held assumptions about how to manage the mainframe processor complex.

Mainframe software charges are typically the single biggest expense item for mainframe environments, meaning that this kind of focus is typically the highest leverage point to safely reduce costs without any negative performance ramifications. Todd is now leading the consulting area at IntelliMagic to help customers accelerate the process of reducing their MLC software bill beyond what typical approaches have achieved to date. IntelliMagic offers a no-charge MLC reduction workshop to assess the opportunities for customers in this area.

IntelliMagic applauds this award for Todd from the leading mainframe user conference, SHARE, and is pleased to announce that Todd will be presenting again at their next conference in Atlanta, Georgia in August.
