Infrastructure performance and capacity planning professionals gathered last week in Atlanta for another exciting IBM TechU event filled with great opportunities to meet and hear from enterprise IT professionals and industry leaders.

CICS & Db2 Performance Analytics Based on SMF Data
In this session we demonstrated the benefits of modernizing how you understand and leverage your SMF data for CICS and Db2 performance analysis. We highlighted how the IntelliMagic approach, with automatic health checks and dashboard technology, identifies potential performance and availability issues before they impact production. The power of context-sensitive drilldowns to provide enhanced visibility and facilitate effective analysis was also showcased.

z/OS Fast Start for Rookies: Introduction to Processor Cache and HiperDispatch
Cycles spent waiting for data to be staged into processor cache typically account for half of total CPU, impacting utilization and software expense. HiperDispatch is a key z/OS capability designed to optimize use of cache.
This session will introduce these concepts and the basic metrics that help identify what is going on under the covers. Who knows, maybe armed with these basic concepts you can go home and help your colleagues avoid the gotchas that even experienced sysprogs can fall into.
