IntelliMagic, innovator in intelligent IT Operations Analytics (ITOA) software, announced support for IBM z16 architecture with Version 11.6.0 of IntelliMagic Vision for z/OS. IntelliMagic Vision is a performance and capacity management software solution that utilizes Artificial Intelligence techniques to unlock the full potential of operational data to enhance availability for your application infrastructure.

Three months after IBM introduced the z16, IntelliMagic Vision for z/OS now offers full support for this new architecture. This includes various insights based on models derived from the IBM documentation and z16 measurements. IntelliMagic Vision recognizes the new 3931 model numbers and reflects the revised RNI (Relative Nest Intensity) formula for the z16. New reports are available to provide the z16 RNI and z16 cache analysis. Also, the new z16 on-chip AI (Artificial Intelligence) Accelerator is fully covered in IntelliMagic Vision.

“IBM has recently released a completely new processor, the z16. This new processor has a completely new design with completely new capabilities. We are happy to provide support for the z16 processor already! Significant work was needed to process the data as well as creating the reports to provide the insights that we want customers to have,” said Jean-Marc van der Kolk, product manager for IntelliMagic’s software solutions.

As with prior processor models, IntelliMagic Vision leverages values derived from regression analysis to estimate the contributions to Finite CPI from misses at the various levels of the (revamped) cache hierarchy. An example is shown in the following chart.

This release also consolidates the new z16 on-chip AI (artificial intelligence) Accelerator counters along with the on-chip sort and compression counters introduced with the z15. The information can be found in the new “Sort, Compress, AI” report set.

We are pleased to have this support for the z16 processor already in place for our customers as they implement z16 processors.
